From Humble Beginings

It started almost by accident. I was a new teacher who had a schedule mixup where I was given a Digital Art class. We had no software, no money, and outdated curriculum. I had some cheap screenprinting equipment that I had pieced together from friends and out of dumpsters at CCSU. The students struggled through GiMP and Inkscape, hand stretched silk over scrap 2x4 frames, exposed screens with a $5 UV lamp, and washed them out in the utility sink. Eventually, we made our first run of student made hoodies in March of 2022.

Since starting CGL, students have made hundreds of designs for Classical, Hartford Public Schools, and Local Non-Profits. Students have produced thousands of custom garments that have helped build a stronger community here at Classical, and across Hartford.
